THE FIRST FRIDAY PRAYER WAS DONE AFTER THE RESTORATION COMPLETED BY OUR GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF FOUNDATIONS AT AL BAB GRAND MOSQUE IN SYRIA
Restoration work of The Grand Mosque in Syria which was heavily damaged by ISIS in 2016-2017 started while the events in region continued.
Our Acting General Director Mr. Burhan ERSOY stated that as a result of examinations done in the area of the Mosque with the technical staff of Gaziantep Regional Directorate in June 2017 they found that the Mosque was severely damaged and some parts were completely destroyed.
In his statement to press, our Acting General Director said ”We have received urgent intervention to prevent the foundation work from being further damaged and turning into an abandoned state. In spite of the civil war we have rebuilt this monumental piece, resisted to centuries with a restoration work under fire and have retained it to its original features and added The Grant Mosque of Al Bab is a gigantic symbol of foundation issue, being a foundation as well as devotion that is to say giving without an expectation, peace and love.“
After the restoration work completed by our General Directorate of Foundations on the Grand Mosque of Al Bab in Syrian Arab Republic, today (January 24,2020) the first sermon was delivered after a period of four years and the first Friday Prayer has done.
