THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FOUNDATIONS (WAQF) MR. BURHAN ERSOY HOSTED THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE US COMMISSION ON INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM (UCIRF)
The Director General of Foundations Mr. Burhan Ersoy hosted the representatives of the Us Commission on International Religious Freedom (UCIRF) in his office.
The commission, which publishes a report on the freedom of religious and belief in countries every year and presented an advisory opinion to the President of the States, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Congress, made country visits within the scope of these studies. The commission, which previously visited our Directorate General in February 2011, February 2014 and October 2017, again visited our Directorate General to get information about its contribution to freedom of religion and belief.
In the meeting, while information about the activities of our Directorate General for community foundations was given also properties returned to community foundations after 2008, representations of community foundations in the Foundation Council and places of worship restored by our Directorate General for the use of different faith groups were explained with examples as well.
Mr. Ersoy, who said that Türkiye is the most free country in the world regarding the religious freedoms, also added “Concrete steps regarding on the rights of the minorities were taken under the leadership of the President of Türkiye after 2003”
