THE CHIEF ADVISOR TO PALESTINIAN LEADER MR. MAHMUD ABBAS VISITED THE DIRECTOR GENERAL MR. BURHAN ERSOY
Dr. Mahmoud Sudqi Al-Habbash, The Chief Advisor for Religious Affairs of the President of Palestine Mr.Mahmoud Abbas, The Ambassador of The State of Palestine to Ankara H.E. Dr. Faed Mustafa, The Head of Heritage Conservation and Islamic Research Institute Mr. Khalli Karaja and the delegation accompanying them visited The T.R. Ministry of Culture and Tourism The Directorate General Of Foundations Director General Mr. Burhan Ersoy in his office.
During the meeting Mr Ersoy pointed out that the Palestinian issue is sacred for Turkiye and said “Everyone in our country carries out this sensitivity and every attack on the Masjid al-Aqsa hurts us. Every request of the Palestinian people is important to us. And I would like to state that our Foundation Experts will gladly assist you with the training that our Palestinian institution specialist brothers want to receive on archive classification, which is the main purpose of your visit here today.”
Mr Al-Habbash who reminded the Prophet saying “Go to Jerusalem but if you can’t, send them oil to be burned in their lamps” stated that İslamic countries contributed to the strengthening of Jerusalem with their works.
Turkiye, which is responsible for keeping the common cultural heritage alive in the countries where the Ottoman Empire established foundations, continues its efforts to preserve and rejuvenate the artefacts in these geographies which are the heirlooms of its ancestors.
The Directorate General of Foundations continues to fulfil its responsibilities in keeping the foundation works alive in these lands, including Palestine, and transferring them to future generations.
In this context during the visit consultations were held on the areas of cooperation between The Directorate General of Foundations and Palestinian Institutions on mutual document exchange, sharing information on the classification and preservation of archival documents. Agreeing to sign a protocol for the cooperation, the parties said that they will carry their study through diplomatic channels.
