OUR FOUNDATION PANEL ON “FOUNDATION AS A SOCIAL AID AND WELLFARE INSTITUTION” WAS HELD
As part of theFoundation Week 2022 activities, our panel on “Foundation as a Social Aid and Welfare Institution” was held by our Directorate General. In the panel held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Mrs. Hatice Oruç, our Director General Mr. Burhan Ersoy, our Deputy general Managers and Head of Departments participated.
In his opening speech Prof. Dr. Mr. Mehmet Görmez while focusing on foundation civilization and human morality, also talk about the difference between “Birr and Berr in our foundation week theme title “One to thousand” and said “Our aim on earth is to plant seeds of goodness which we call “Birr (One)” on the land we live on which we call “Berr”. .. as the purpose of our creation, we need to sow the seeds of goodness and we need to share what we have obtained from those seed with other people. So that “From One to Thousand” is the concept that constitutes our purpose of existence on the earth, our purpose of creation”
Starting her speech by greeting everyone with respect and love with the scope of the panel, the chairman of the session Prof. Dr. Mrs. Hatice Oruç mentioning the couplet of Fatih Sultan Mehmet (Fatih the Conqueror) “The skill is to built a city, People Comunity is to worship the heart” and said “The city is established through foundations , it develops through foundations. The Ottoman Empire is a Foundation Civilization and is a unique example. The role of foundations in maintaining social order is undeniable”
Addressing the issue of “Neighborhood Avarız (Emergency) Foundations in Bursa” in the panel Prof Dr. Mr. Cafer Çiftçi said, “Foundations touch hearts like magic where ever they go. Moreover, here I will touch on the foundations of people established with small capitals. Avarız Foundations emerged after Beyazıt II Period and were established by the donations of money by the prominent people of the city. The Avarız foundations serves a purpose and has does some works in the neighborhood such as beeswax cleaning in the streets helping the poor and needy people and finished his speech by thanking everyone.
The other speaker in the panel who focused on the issues of “Hırfet (Guild) Foundations and the Function of Social Assistance Funds” Assoc. Dr. Mrs. Çigdem Gürsoy said “A people can be born in the house of foundations grown up and intertwine every stage of his or her life with foundations”
Talking about Tradesman Foundations Mrs. Gürsoy by saying, “we see examples of Monetary Foundations in Edirne in the 1400s. During the reign of Süleyman the Magnificent, Monetary Foundations were closed considering that it was not permissible to donate Money. later monetary foundations were opened again on the letters of scholars after that date monetary foundations continued to be established at a faster pace enough to take the name of Ottoman Foundation Civilization” and finished his speech by thanking to everyone.
Mr. Kazım Ceylan who discussed the issue of “Foundations in Ahilik and their Reflections to Today” said, “There is a connection between the Ahi type of people and foundation civilization. In Ahism they provide education based on qualifications. There are foundations established by ahis in which the ahis took role these include the ash foundation the Wall and Street cleaning foundation the foundation that welcomes the guests etc.” and finished his speech by thanking to the audiences.
Starting his speech by whishing the foundations week to be auspicious Prof. Dr. Mr. Ferhat Akdemir said that foundations are like a school besides being a state institution.
Mentioning that there is a mutual action when it comes to helping each other Mr. Akdemir said, “The relationship between people in need and the people of wealth will help us to see the current situatıon”
At the end of the panel which was held as a single session a gift was presented to our speakers by our Director General Mr. Burhan Ersoy.
